A third grade teacher read The Wizard of Oz to her class, putting Shirley Echols feet firmly on the Yellow Brick Road.
“My parents found me Oz books in Sacramento in the 1960s—I’ve loved them ever since.”
Although Shirley’s relatively new to the Oz Club, she was quick to volunteer as our membership secretary, a newly created position handling and responding to incoming mail and managing our membership files.
An avid and enthusiastic supporter of associations and charitable groups, Shirley has worked with databases, form letters, mailings and mailing lists for her entire professional life. From a sheriff’s office and the March of Dimes to the Olde Tyme Fiddlers Association, she’s been ready, willing and able to keep administrative matters moving forward.
Although Shirley’s lived in California and Texas her current home puts her in the heart of Oz. She’s just minutes from L. Frank Baum’s birthplace, Chittenango, New York.
