August 5-7, 2011: The International Wizard of Oz Club's National Oz Convention, Banner Elk, North Carolina.
Oz Fans: Today
Following Saturday’s IWOC auction, we’ll showcase the way we fans celebrate Oz today. Time to showcase our Oz displays, home decor and ways we incorporate Oz themes into our daily work and play. Participate in an Oz fashion show at our Saturday night gala wearing your vintage or new Oz finery and bling—costumes if you prefer. Our Saturday evening and Sunday programs continue the abundance of Oz; show us your Oz garden, Oz crafts and share your Oz blogs. Look at Oz parties and parades, cakes, quilts and tattoos! Charles Triplett is bringing stage and screen worn gowns from his Judy Garland collection. Sean Gates will talk about his film project, L. Frank Baum’s Wonderful Wizard of Oz. From the My Pretty Book to a fabulous New York designer’s unique “Dorothy” room we’ll celebrate it all. However you show your enthusiasm for Oz, join the program and share it during this weekend together.
Meeting venues include both indoor and outdoor sites; private transportation is necessary. We have group rates at the Alpen Inn and Top of the Beech. Watch for housing and registration details in future Oz Club mailings, on Facebook and in the forums at www.OzClub.org. Until then, save the date. And make plans to celebrate Oz on the mountain.
Email Sean (SeanOz@aol.com), Karen (Storylandmi@aol.com) or Jane Albright (Ozisus@aol.com) with your program suggestions, ideas and offers to help.
