July 23-25 2010: The Winkie Convention.

Join us for a wonderful Western weekend of Oz. The Forty-Seventh annual IWOC Winkie Convention, chaired by Robert Baum, Great Grandson of Royal Historian of Oz, L. Frank Baum, happens July 23-25, 2010, at the beautiful Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California.

The program honors the publication centennial of The Emerald City of Oz. We will follow L. Frank Baum as he prepared to conclude his series of Oz books with that title, and review the beautiful illustrations created for it by John R. Neill.

- Grant Hayter-Menzies leads an in-depth discussion of The Witches of Oz: Book, Stage and Screen. From Locasta to Tattypoo—from Billie Burke to Idina Menzel—Oz and Ozian witches are sure to enchant!

- Stan Sieler winds up Victor Columbia Edison for a tour through a century of Oz music!

- Atticus Gannaway presents a fascinating introduction to the life and work of the mysterious Frank Kramer, illustrator of Jack Snow’s Oz books!

- Robert Baum and David Maxine take to the sky in an illustrated talk about Baum’s Flying Girl series, also celebrating its hundredth anniversary!

Expect Show-and-Tell, the fabulous Winkie Costume Contest, the Treasure Hunt, the elaborate Winkie Program Book, and best of all, the famous Winkie Con camaraderie and friendship! So come west and join Robert Baum for the best Oz convention there is!
