Oziana Editor
Hailing from Louisiana, Marcus Mebes has worked on several projects for the International Wizard of Oz Club throughout the years, from designing Gina Wickwar's Toto in Oz and the reissues of the Dick Martin Oz books, to the production of The Baum Bugle and other Club publications, including stints as guest-editor for both The Baum Bugle and Oziana. Marcus also has published several scholarly Oz books and reprints under the imprint Pumpernickel Pickle, such as L. Frank Baum's The Woggle-Bug Book, By the Candelabra's Glare and Father Goose, as well as W. W. Denslow's When I Grow Up and Billy Bounce, among others.
"I got my first real exposure to Oz from a comic book called Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew in the Oz-Wonderland War," says Marcus. "The afterwords by the editor were fascinating, noting that there was an entire series of Oz books, as well as fan-written sequels. Of course, I was familiar with the story from the MGM film, but I never really cared for it. This Oz, the real Oz, was far more interesting for me. Though we couldn't afford them, my mother made sure to buy me all the Del Rey Oz books as they were published, over a long period of time, and I was hooked."
Marcus brings to Oziana several years experience as copy editor, writer and designer, as well as fandom and appreciation.
