Her Royal Highness, Princess Ozma of Oz, cordially invites all citizens of Oz to join her and the Munchkins of the International Wizard of Oz Club for their annual east coast convention at which we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Royal Historian of Oz, L. Frank Baum.

As is Ozma’s custom when celebrating her own birthdays, the weekend will include processions, receptions, grand feasts, games, plays and a general good time for every one! Esteemed guests will be on hand to pay tribute to Baum and all of his works and to other Oz anniversaries such as W.W. Denslow’s 150th birthday, the 50th anniversary of the first televised airing of the MGM film The Wizard of Oz, the 100th anniversary of the publication of John Dough and the Cherub, and others.

2006 MUNCHKIN CONVENTION REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 

THE MUNCHKIN CONVENTION ACCEPTS ONLY CASH OR CHECKS WITH PROPER ID (NO CREDIT CARDS) FOR ALL PAYMENTS.

 

HOTEL INFORMATION: Hyatt Regency Princeton located at 102 Carnegie Center, Princeton, New Jersey 08540-6293. For further information, see the hotel’s website at www.princeton.hyatt.com

 

Munchkin Convention Rate: $109.00 per night + 6% NJ State Sales Tax & 8% Occupancy Tax ($124.26) for single/double occupancy. To book rooms at the special convention rate, reservations must be made on or before Friday, July 21, 2006 by contacting the Hyatt Regency Princeton directly at (800)233-1234 or (609)987-1234. Indicate that you are attending the 2006 Munchkin Convention hosted by the International Wizard of Oz Club. Should you require any special arrangements or accommodations, please make such arrangements directly with the hotel.

 

GETTING TO THE CONVENTION: The Hyatt Regency Princeton is conveniently located on the northbound side of the Route 1 corridor in Princeton, New Jersey.  The hotel is centrally located between Newark Liberty International and Philadelphia International Airports. The hotel is also accessible by train (Amtrak or New Jersey Transit) via the Northeast Corridor Line/Princeton Junction Station. Please see the hotel’s website for driving directions.

 

CONVENTION REGISTRATION FEES: For your convenience, we provide several rate plans for attending the Munchkin Convention:

 

  • Full Convention: Covers all activities, events, souvenirs, giveaways, and meals for the entire convention weekend.

 

  • Saturday Only: Covers all activities, events, souvenirs, giveaways, and included meals on Saturday, August 12th ONLY.

 

  • Meals Only: Attendees registered for the Full Convention ONLY may invite non-egistered guests to participate in individual meals. In addition, registered Saturday Only attendees may supplement their registration by adding either the Friday Reception/Dinner OR the Sunday Deluxe Breakfast Buffet (not both). Individual per-person meal prices are shown in the fee table below.
  • Auction Only: The Munchkin Convention Auction is open to the general public. Individuals not registered to attend the Munchkin Convention may participate in the Munchkin Auction by obtaining a Bidder Number for a fee of $5. Any purchases made in the auction by non-registered participants will be subject to a 10% Buyer’s Premium added to the total purchase amount.

AUCTION INFORMATION: The Munchkin Convention Auction will begin with a preview of items at 8AM on Saturday, August 12th. Auctioning will begin at 9AM and continue until 4PM with a 1-1/2 hour break at noon for lunch. The silent auction will run concurrently with the main auction. You must have a bidder number to bid on items in the main auction or the silent auction. All registered guests will be issued a bidder number with their registration packet. In order to bid on items in the main auction or the  silent auction, Auction Only participants must purchase a bidder number for a fee of $5 PLUS there will be a 10% Buyer’s Premium added to their total auction purchases.

 

Individuals wishing to consign items for sale at the Munchkin Convention Auction should contact the Munchkin Convention Auctioneer, Bruce Conklin, prior to the convention by email ruggedo@hvi.net or phone (845)255-9135. Kindly provide a list of the items that you wish to consign with brief descriptions/remarks on condition and your desired consignment arrangement.

 

DEALER INFORMATION: ONLY registered convention attendees (Full Convention or Saturday Only) may reserve dealer sale tables for the fee of $25 per table. Dealers will be permitted to open for business from Noon to 5:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.  Dealers are requested to refrain from selling or displaying any items that are included in the Munchkin Auction during the auction -- those items may be sold only after the auction ends. Please indicate the number of tables that you wish to reserve on your registration form.

 

HOW TO REGISTER: DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS FRIDAY, JULY 21, 2006.
