The 2003 Ozmopolitan Convention

THE 2003 Ozmopolitan Convention will be held at the beautiful Lake Lawn Resort on the weekend of June 20-22. Reservation information can be found here.
Convention Chair, Kevin W. Thomas, has put together an outstanding program on the art of Oz.
Jory Mason, will make a presentation about the great Oz illustrator, John R. Neill. The distinguished career of John R. Neill was far broader than his association with Oz, and we will learn about his life, his work with, and his art beyond Oz. In addition, she plans to bring original drawings and paintings, most of which have not been seen outside the Neill family. Selected originals will be for sale.
Carrie Hedges is helping to coordinate a presentation on the art of Dick Martin, who after John R. Neill, probably illustrated more Oz-related publications than any other artist of his generation.
Children's literature specialist and L. Frank Baum biographer Michael Patrick Hearn will make a presentation about the first illustrator of Oz, W.W. Denslow.
Steve Teller is slated to make a presentation about Baum's Oz stage plays. On Friday evening, he will also host and moderate the annual Show and Tell program where we can show our treasured and unusual Oz collectibles. We hope you will consider bringing something to show all of us.
All this and of course the wonderful events that are at every Ozmopolitan Convention, like the the costume contest Friday afternoon, the quizzes (for adults and children on Saturday morning), and the big Oz Club Auction on Saturday afternoon (this is our big fund-raiser for the Club, so donations and consignments are most welcome). The dealer room will open after the auction to provide opportunities for all of us to add to our collections. There will be Oz videos and special activities for children. And perhaps best of all is the time for renewing old friendships and making new ones.
Come and and join us at the Ozmopolitan Convention this year at Lake Lawn Resort June 20-22. We know you'll have a great deal of fun, and we encourage those who have not yet attended a Convention to consider doing so this year.
